Data Deletion Instructions

Last updated: 23 September 2026

This page explains how to ask MANGO CABS AND RENT A CAR PRIVATE LIMITED ("Mango Cabs") to delete your personal data. It covers data you gave us through:

  • our website mangocabs.in;
  • phone calls;
  • WhatsApp, including conversations that started from a Facebook or Instagram ad;
  • bookings and trips.

It also explains what we have to keep and why. Read it together with our Privacy Policy.

1. How to request deletion

There is no online form or self-service button yet. Deletion is handled by our staff. Send your request in one of these ways:

  • Email: info@mangocabs.in, with the subject line "Data deletion request".
  • Phone or WhatsApp: our Grievance Officer, Ajay Krishna, on +91 98953 62526.

Include in your request:

  1. The mobile number you used with us. This is how we find your records.
  2. Your name.
  3. Whether you are a customer or a driver, driver applicant or partner.
  4. Optionally, what you want deleted. If you do not say, we treat the request as covering everything we are allowed to delete.

Verifying it is you. Before deleting anything we check that the request comes from the owner of that number. Usually we message or call that number to confirm. We will not act on a request we cannot verify.

Someone acting for you. A person you have nominated, or a legal guardian, can make the request. They will need to show that they are authorised.

2. How long it takes

  • We reply within 90 days of receiving your request at the latest, which is the maximum under the DPDP Rules. We aim to be much faster.
  • Once we have verified a customer request, the deletion itself is done in one step.
  • We will confirm to you what we deleted and what we kept.
  • Deletion cannot be undone. Afterwards we cannot look up your past bookings or conversations for you.

3. Customers: what we delete

When we act on a verified customer request, our system:

  • deletes your WhatsApp conversations and messages held in our system, including their text, location pins, shared contacts and the photos, documents and other media you sent;
  • deletes files attached to your enquiries;
  • removes your name, phone number and email from your customer record, your enquiries, and your bookings and invoices, replacing them with a placeholder;
  • clears notes and free text about you written by our staff, and your special requests;
  • clears your ad click and campaign information, such as the Google and Meta ad references;
  • searches the rest of our system for your phone number and email and removes them wherever they appear, for example in contact-form messages and internal logs;
  • marks you as opted out of WhatsApp and marketing messages.

4. What we keep, and why

Some information has to be kept even after a deletion request.

What we keepWhyFor how long
Booking, payment, refund and invoice records: amounts, dates, vehicle, route and pickup time, without your name or phoneCompany and tax law require us to keep accounting records8 financial years
Trip details on past enquiries and quotes (pickup, drop, stops, dates, vehicle, fare), without your name or phoneOperational and pricing recordsSee the Privacy Policy §8
Call recordings and call logs (time, duration, which staff member took the call)The DPDP Rules require us to keep personal data and processing logs for at least one year. Recordings are also evidence if there is a dispute3 years from your last interaction with us, and at least 1 year from the call
Audit logs (a record that an action, including your deletion, took place). Your phone and email are removed from themSecurity and legal accountabilityAt least 1 year
Names mentioned in free text with no phone or email beside themWe cannot safely match a bare name to you without risking deleting someone else's dataUntil the record's normal retention period ends

In practice, deletion removes your identity from our records but does not wipe every trace of the trip or call. A pickup address kept on a trip record could still point to a place connected with you. If this concerns you, tell us and we will look at your case specifically.

5. Copies held by other companies

Our deletion covers our own systems. Some of the companies we work with keep their own copies, and our deletion does not reach them:

  • WhatsApp (Meta): messages on WhatsApp's own servers, and the chat on your own phone. You can delete chats in your WhatsApp app. Meta's handling is governed by WhatsApp's privacy policy.
  • MyOperator (our phone provider): its own copy of call recordings and call logs. We cannot delete these from our side; MyOperator's own policies apply.
  • Google, Meta advertising and Microsoft Clarity: data these companies collected through our website. You can manage or delete it through your Google, Facebook or Instagram account settings and ad preferences, or by clearing cookies (see the Privacy Policy §7).
  • Anthropic: conversation text processed when AI-assisted replies were on for your conversation.
  • Backups: our database backups roll over, so deleted data may remain in a backup for a short time before it is overwritten.

6. Drivers, driver applicants and partners

  • Our tools for fully deleting driver and applicant data are still being built.
  • Until they are ready, when you ask us to delete your data we will:
    • stop using your data for recruitment or dispatch, and deactivate your driver profile;
    • tell you what we hold about you;
    • delete what we can with our current tools, and tell you what we could not delete yet and why.
  • Some driver records must be kept by law or for safety reasons, even after full deletion is available:
    • payout and ledger records: 8 financial years;
    • trip records and trip-linked location: 3 years from the trip;
    • identity and compliance documents: 3 years after you stop driving with us.
  • If you applied through a WhatsApp hiring ad, your WhatsApp conversation with us is deleted in the same way as a customer's (§3).

7. Other ways to control your data

  • Stop WhatsApp messages: reply STOP to any of our WhatsApp messages.
  • Website tracking: clear or block cookies in your browser (see the Privacy Policy §7).
  • Get a copy of your data: ask us at the same contacts. We can send you a summary of the data we hold.
  • Correct your data: ask us at the same contacts.

8. If you are not satisfied

Contact our Grievance Officer, Ajay Krishna:

If you are still not satisfied after using our grievance process, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
