Driver bata, fuel, 5% GST, AC running through the trip, and driver-waiting at Pamba are inside the day-rental package; the Tamil Nadu inter-state permit (if combining Velankanni), Pamba parking, toll where applicable, and night halt are billed at actuals. The 5% GST is the CGST Act 2017 rate for cab service; driver bata follows the Kerala Motor Transport Workers Welfare Fund (KMTWWF) schedule. The Pamba parking fee is a small fixed levy at the designated parking, paid at the gate and invoiced separately.

Inter-state tourist-vehicle permits are issued by the Kerala State Transport Authority (KMVD government rate, not our pricing). Trivandrum to Pamba is roughly 165 km by road — about four to five hours in a Tempo Traveller via Kottarakkara → Pathanamthitta → Erumeli → Pamba, per the Kerala Tourism Sabarimala destination page. The route runs the highway to Kottarakkara, then inland through Pathanamthitta, then the climbing ghat road past Erumeli. Pamba is the road-end; the trek onward is ~4–5 km uphill through the Periyar Tiger Reserve forest.

We leave Trivandrum by 4 a.m. on the morning of the trip to clear the Pamba checkpoint queue before noon — Pamba traffic peaks between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. through the Mandala-Makaravilakku season. The route includes a planned dressing-room rest stop where the group changes into the traditional black mundu / dhoti before the temple visit. The driver knows which Pathanamthitta-stretch rest stops run a clean, ladies-friendly changing facility with water for the irumudikettu prep.

At Pamba, the 17-seater parks at the designated parking and the driver waits the duration of the trek and darshan. The group reaches the driver on WhatsApp when the descent is complete. Driver-waiting time is inside the day-rental package — the vehicle is engaged for the full day. We time the descent for a same-day Trivandrum return, or overnight at a Pathanamthitta or Trivandrum hotel for a relaxed return.
